MUKKA PROTEINS LIMITED EXPANDS CIRCULAR BIO-ECONOMY FOOTPRINT:
SCALING BENGALURU’S WET WASTE CONVERSION INTO HIGH-VALUE INSECT
PROTEIN, OIL, COMPOST, AND HUMIC ACID
Mangalore, September 01, 2026: Mukka Proteins Limited (NSE: MUKKA, BSE: 544135), an Indian
leader in animal nutrition and sustainable protein manufacturing, today detailed the commercial
roadmap and operational capacities for converting Bengaluru’s municipal wet waste into high-value
bio-derivatives. The company utilizes automated Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) bioconversion
to process urban organic waste into insect meal, lipid fractions, nutrient-rich frass compost, and humic
acid bio-stimulants.
Installed Processing Capacity & Bengaluru Infrastructure
To support municipal bioremediation and industrial output, Mukka Proteins has established a modular,
scalable processing footprint:
• Processing Infrastructure: Operates specialized bioconversion facilities with an established
baseline handling capacity designed for phased scale-up to process up to 1,000 Tonnes Per Day
(TPD) of organic wet waste at peak municipal intake. Currently intake is at 200 Tonnes Per
Day (TPD). Expected to reach 400 Tonnes Per Day (TPD) by March 27 and gradually to 1,000
Tonnes Per Day (TPD) by Dec 27.
• Mass Reduction & Conversion Efficiency: The Black Soldier Fly larval stage delivers an 80%
mass reduction of raw organic waste within a 10 to 14 days cycle, converting municipal organic
loads into stabilized bio-mass.
• Consolidated Corporate Capabilities: Complements Mukka’s wider animal nutrition
manufacturing footprint (over 2,91,720 MTPA of conventional marine protein/oil processing
capacity across India and Oman), providing established global supply-chain access, automated
blending, and international GMP+/export-grade certifications.
The Bengaluru Urban Waste Opportunity
Bengaluru generates over 4,000 metric tonnes of solid waste daily, of which 50% to 60% consists of
biodegradable wet waste. Traditional landfill disposal creates severe methane (CH_4) emissions and
groundwater leachate risks.
Mukka Proteins’ scalable bioremediation units transform this urban liability into four distinct revenue
drivers:
• Insect Protein Meal: Yielding >50% crude protein with an optimal amino acid balance and
natural antimicrobial peptides, directly replacing fishmeal and soybean meal in aquafeed,
poultry, and premium pet food.
• Industrial & Feed-Grade Insect Oil: Rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) and lauric
acid, used in specialized animal nutrition, gut-health formulations, and oleochemical
applications.
• Insect Frass Organic Compost: High-grade, odorless organic fertilizer enriched with natural
chitin, stimulating beneficial soil microbes and improving soil structure.
• Humic Acid & Bio-stimulants: High-purity organic conditioning agents extracted from post-
digestion bio-refining that improve crop root absorption, reduce chemical input dependencies,
and improve drought resilience.
Global and Domestic Market Opportunity
Segment Global Market Outlook Domestic Indian Demand
Insect Meal & Projected to exceed $3.5+ Billion by High domestic demand across
Lipids 2030, driven by European and Asian commercial shrimp / fish
feed sectors seeking deforestation- aquaculture, poultry hatcheries, and
free protein alternatives. rapid pet-food manufacturing growth.
Organic Frass & Global agricultural bio-stimulant Aligns directly with national soil
Humic Acid market growing at an 11%+ CAGR health initiatives (Bharatiya
amidst synthetic fertilizer Prakritik Krishi Paddhati) and
restrictions. municipal zero-waste mandates.
Carbon Offsets and ESG Alignment
Diverting municipal organic streams from anaerobic landfill environments into rapid aerobic BSF
bioconversion substantially mitigates fugitive greenhouse gas emissions. Mukka Proteins integrates
these facilities with global carbon credit verification frameworks (including Verra registry standards),
adding verifiable ESG and carbon credit revenue streams to raw production.
