Built on Ather’s new EL platform, Konarc brings Ather’s engineering and technology to a wider base of Indian riders, with a refined experience built around ride comfort, range, durability and ease of ownership. Konarc will be available across the S and Z product lines, with six variants in total. The S line comprises four variants with IDC ranges of 100 km, 125 km, 161 km, and 200 km, while the Z line comprises two variants with IDC ranges of 125 km and 161 km. Konarc will be available in Quartz White, Lumen Copper, Celestial Gold, and Majestic Grey, with Steel Blue and Claret Red available exclusively on the higher-end Z variants. Konarc also brings a simpler ownership proposition, with service required only once a year for most riders and a 10-year/100,000 km (whichever is earlier) warranty on its fifth-generation BedrockTM battery. The scooter introduces a suite of new features including MagicKey, AutoPop, AirWalk™ and Ather’s Advanced Electronic Braking System (AeBS™). Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO, Ather Energy, said, “Konarc has been designed to make EVs mainstream in India. We have understood the needs of the vast majority of buyers who are still waiting to go electric and have engineered Konarc for them. Be it the metal panels, 200 km range, once-a-year service interval, fast home charging, or the plush and comfortable ride, we have pushed the envelope on every fundamental that matters to this buyer, without compromising on the premium experience and advanced technology that Ather is known for. Konarc has also been designed to scale, and with the vertical integration and manufacturing capacity we are building at AURIC, we can take the Ather experience to many more riders and markets across India.” Built around the realities of Indian roads Konarc has been engineered around the way scooters are ridden in India, with a focus on stability and comfort. It gets a 14-inch front alloy wheel and a 12-inch rear alloy wheel, both featuring a new alloy wheel design. Its 1,352 mm wheelbase is among the longest in the scooter segment, while a relaxed rake angle contributes to a planted ride and greater stability, particularly on longer rides. Long-travel suspension at both ends is designed to absorb potholes, broken roads, and uneven surfaces, while enhancing ride comfort and keeping the scooter stable and composed. Konarc is also Ather’s first scooter to feature metal panels on the rear side and a steel unibody chassis, providing greater structural integrity and impact resistance. Konarc uses a sequential gear-drive transmission. The new transmission architecture is designed to deliver smooth, near-silent power delivery and lower mechanical wear, while maintaining efficiency. Comfort is at the heart of Konarc’s design, with a seamless rider and pillion experience spanning the comfortable seat, padded grab rail, and an optional LoungeBack™ accessory, an adjustable backrest with lumbar support. The design carries Ather’s distinctive DNA through clean and crafted surfaces and a dual-tone treatment across the interior and exterior. The new alloy wheels complement the design, while illuminated Ather branding and animated wraparound lamps add a distinctive signature. The lamps respond to interactions including waking up, locking, locating the scooter, and charging. Rethinking Braking: Advanced Electronic Braking System (AeBSTM) Konarc introduces Ather’s Advanced Electronic Braking System (AeBS™), a technology developed entirely in-house to make braking performance superior across different road surfaces. Unlike conventional braking systems, which apply a fixed distribution of braking force between the front and rear wheels, AeBS™ dynamically adjusts this balance based on the road conditions while braking. It does this using software and sensors, working with Konarc’s existing Ather Drive Controller and motor, without the need for additional hardware. AeBS™ also uses regenerative braking to add braking force, helping reduce stopping distances. At the same time, its dynamic modulation helps reduce wheel lock-ups and improve stability and control. Swapnil Jain, Co-founder & CTO of Ather Energy said, “Ather has spent over a decade building its technology and engineering capabilities. We started working on software-led braking, fast charging and connected scooter experiences well before they became expected in the market. That head start matters because it gives us the experience to integrate these technologies deeply into the vehicle and bring the engineering depth we have built over the years to a much larger set of riders. AeBS™, MagicKey, AutoPopTM and AirWalk™ are examples of that approach, each designed to make everyday riding more effortless.” Everyday technology, made effortless Konarc brings Ather’s technology-first approach to everyday scooter interactions, making them simpler, easier and more intuitive. Its new Magic features turn familiar moments, from unlocking and accessing storage to moving the scooter around, into effortless experiences. MagicKey redefines the keyless experience for two-wheelers and is featured on Ather’s first scooter built around this technology. Its SmartWakeTM feature allows riders to wake and unlock the scooter through a simple interaction, without ever needing to take the key out of their pocket. Konarc also automatically locks when the rider walks away. MagicKey can also be used to locate the scooter remotely and even open the seat. A ping function on the key fob can locate Konarc from 30 metres away by triggering a sound and light response from the scooter. It is also designed around everyday key-related hassles, including dropping or misplacing the key or running out of charge on the key fob. AutoPopTM makes the under-seat storage easier to access when a rider's hands are full. Unlike a boot release that only works once the rider is standing next to the scooter, AutoPop can also be triggered from a few metres away using the MagicKey™, so the seat is already open by the time the rider reaches Konarc. A button on the scooter offers the same function at close range. The seat lifts fully to a vertical position and stays there, giving riders clear, hands-free access with no risk of it swinging shut mid-reach. AirWalk™ makes moving your scooter by hand noticeably easier. As soon as the scooter detects a manual push or pull, it engages the motor to provide mild assistive torque in the same direction.
