To tell you very honestly, my entire life was IFB. “You don't need to be the
I was always totally dedicated
biggest, but you need to
be the best.”
Our Founder, Mr. Bijon Nag, began with this belief and built a well-respected
Company around it.
In 1974 he set up IFB's first fine blanking plant in Kolkata, bringing to India a
precision manufacturing technology that was entirely new. It was a small
beginning. But it was the best technology of its kind.
IFB's Home Appliances Division brought front-load washing machines to
Indian homes. In a market accustomed to semi-automatic machines, this
was another first. And again, it was a product built on the best technology.
Over the decades, as IFB grew across appliances and engineering, his
words served not as a slogan but as a blueprint. Growth was about
delivering the best.
This year, three new things took shape.
Schmid Automotive andAppliances GmbH (SAAG)
Through its wholly owned subsidiary GAAL, the Company incorporated
SAAG in Switzerland in December 2025. SAAG will augment the design
and tooling capabilities of the Engineering Business and undertake R&D
on new tools for fine blanking aimed at breakthrough product innovation
and other opportunities. Switzerland was chosen for its concentration of
fine blanking tooling expertise due to its watchmaking industry and other
precision industr giving the Company access to a rare talent pool for
complex tool design.
Advanced Electronics Division
With electronics manufacturing realigning towards India, the Company
moved with purpose to set up a dedicated plant for itsAdvanced
Electronics Division in Bangalore inAugust 2025. It has opened up the
relationship with a big and important global customer and could lead to big
opportunity for which work is ongoing. We are also working on the design
of the complex part of the same customer - which if successful will give us
good growth. SAAG is providing the necessary support in design of the said
complex part.
