Giridhar Aramane, IAS (Retd.) has been appointed as Chairman & Managing Director of M/s Unitech Limited by the Government of India in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) for a Date & Term of Appointment period of two years from the date of his joining i e. with effect from 25.08.2026, pursuant to the order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court dated 17.08.2026. Sh. Giridhar Aramane, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1988 batch (Andhra Pradesh cadre), was appointed as Defence Secretary from 1st November, 2022 and retired on 31¢t October, 2024. In his 32 years of experience in the Indian Administrative Service, Mr. Aramane has held various important portfolios in the State Government of Andhra Pradesh as well as in the Central Government. In the Cabinet Secretariat, Mr. Aramane looked after the work of Cabinet Affairs as Additional Secretary. Brief Profile of Sh. Giridhar Aramane Apart from Cabinet Secretariat, Sh. Aramane looked after Exploration Division in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas; and was Executive Director in-charge of inspections in Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority. In the Andhra Pradesh Government, he served as Principal Secretary in Urban Development Department, Managing Director of AP State Finance Corporation, and Secretary (Finance Department). Unitech Limited with connected matters, vide order dated 18.12.2019, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India directed Union of India to act proactively to replace the existing management of Unitech Limited by an independent group of directors. AND whereas the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, vide order dated 20.01.2020, approved the names suggested by Union of India. AND whereas the tenure of Mr. Yudhvir Singh Malik, I1AS (Retd.), who was appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director came to an end on 20.07.2026. Now, Hon’ble Supreme Court vide order dated 17.08.2026 (uploaded on the website of Hon’ble Court on 19.08.2026) has approved the appointment of Shri Giridhar Aramane, IAS Retd (1988 batch) as the Chairman and Managing Director of Unitech Limited. Accordingly, Shri Giridhar Aramane is appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of Unitech Limited for a period of two years from the date of his joining. Further, he is to be accorded a remuneration of Rupees five lakhs per month consolidated pay plus company leased accommodation. This issues with the approval of competent authority.
