Sub: Disclosure under Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure
Requirements), Regulations 2015- Ongoing Litigation which has become Material
Dear Sir/Madam,
Pursuant to Regulation 30 SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements)
Regulations, 2015 read with Para B of Part A of Schedule III thereto, this is to inform that
the following litigation has become material and is accordingly being disclosed.
The litigation pertains to the implementation of the Award dated 08.06.2000 passed by
the Central Government Industrial Tribunal, Dhanbad in Reference Case No. 97 of 1995,
whereby regularisation of 75 workmen as Category-I General Mazdoors along with
consequential monetary benefits was directed. The Award was set aside by the learned
Single Judge of the Hon'ble High Court of Jharkhand. Thereafter, the Division Bench
restored the Award. The Special Leave Petition and the Review Petition preferred by the
Company before the Hon'ble Supreme Court were subsequently dismissed.
Thereafter, Contempt (Civil) Case No. 1438 of 2025 was initiated before the Hon'ble High
Court of Jharkhand alleging non-compliance with the Award. Vide order dated 04.05.2026,
the Hon'ble High Court, inter alia, directed the Company to calculate the arrears payable
and deposit the corresponding amount in two fixed deposits in the name of the Registrar
General of the Hon'ble High Court, pending completion of the identification process of the
concerned workmen and their dependants.
Pursuant to the aforesaid order, the Committee of Functional Directors, in its meeting held
on 05.07.2026, approved the proposal for deposit of ₹39,83,01,981.63/-, with the
Registrar General of the Hon'ble High Court towards arrears in respect of the workmen
who have submitted claims and the eligible dependants, in compliance with the aforesaid
order. The overall financial involvement in the matter, including the calculated amount
relating to the remaining workmen whose identification/claims are yet to be finalized, is
presently assessed at approximately ₹48,10,96,969.83/-.
The matter is presently pending before the Hon'ble High Court of Jharkhand at Ranchi and
the Company is taking necessary steps in compliance with the directions of the Hon'ble
High Court.
