The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) has seen a decline in realisations through the resolution process, with the percentage of total claims realised by financial creditors dropping to around 30% from over 40% in its initial years. The return to creditors, measured as a percentage of liquidation value, has also declined from around 190% in the early years to 167% in FY26. Experts say the decade-old insolvency framework is increasingly being viewed as a lengthy and uncertain option by both lenders and investors due to mounting delays, falling recoveries, and prolonged litigation.
