The vessel is the fifth and final ship in a series of five Diving Support Craft (DSCs) being constructed under the Government of India's Make in India initiative. The launch ceremony was graced by Mrs. Kamal Singh, wife of Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, AVSM, NM Chief of Personnel who performed the traditional naming and launch of the vessel. The craft was successfully side launched into the Hooghly River at 1505 Hrs on 1st August 2026. Around 200 guests were present to witness this important occasion. Designed as catamaran-type vessels, these Diving Support Crafts are equipped with advanced, indigenously sourced systems to support the Indian Navy’s Command Clearance Diving Teams (CCDTs). They will play a critical role in underwater operations, including inspection, repair, maintenance, and salvage activities within harbour and near-shore environments. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Prithish Chowdhary, Dy. Managing Director, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, said: "This achievement reflects the strength of Indian manufacturing and engineering, and demonstrates how indigenous capabilities are steadily evolving to deliver complex vessels towards important platforms. It also highlights the strong partnership between the Indian Navy and Indian industry in building world-class ships in India. The launch marks another significant milestone for Titagarh Naval Systems Limited (TNSL), the dedicated shipbuilding and maritime systems company formed following the strategic restructuring of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited. Strengthening its focus on maritime growth, TNSL is also developing a state-of-the-art, 50-acre shipyard at Falta, West Bengal, to cater to both national and international shipbuilding requirements.
