The MoU was signed on 30th July 2026 in the august presence of Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, and Sh. Pravesh Wahi, Hon’ble Mayor, Delhi along with senior officials from the Government of Delhi, MCD, and Oil India Limited. The occasion marks a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between OIL and MCD towards sustainable municipal solid waste management and the production of clean, renewable energy. The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for cooperation between OIL and MCD to facilitate the development of CBG plants. Initially to take this forward two CBG plants of the capacity 500 TPD and 300 TPD respectively utilizing segregated organic municipal solid waste generated within Delhi are bring planned. These plants will produce 30 to 32 TPD of Compressed Biogas. The initiative aims to convert biodegradable waste into renewable green fuel, thereby reducing landfill dependency, improving urban sanitation, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting the Government of India’s energy transition and circular economy objectives. The partnership reinforces Oil India Limited’s commitment to expanding its waste to energy portfolio and contributing to the national objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission, SATAT, and Net Zero through the deployment of sustainable and environmentally responsible energy infrastructure.
