(BSE: 543273) (NSE: KMEW) PRESS RELEASE KMEW completes acquisition of TSHD River Pearl 48 to support Large-Scale Maintenance Dredging Projects Mumbai, India, November 05, 2026: Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited (KMEW) has completed the acquisition of River Pearl 48, a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD), at a capital cost of approximately ₹250 crore. The acquisition strengthens KMEW’s fleet and execution capacity for large-scale maintenance dredging projects. A River Pearl 48 is a self-propelled vessel that dredges while moving slowly over the seabed. 1. Suction: Trailing pipes with dragheads are lowered to the seabed. Powerful pumps draw up a mixture of water and sediment. 2. Hopper loading: The sediment settles in the vessel’s hopper while excess water flows out through overflow systems. 3. Transport: Once loaded, the vessel sails to a designated disposal or reclamation area. 4. Discharge: The dredged material is released through bottom doors, pumped ashore, or discharged by another method, depending on the project. The vessel then returns to the dredging area and repeats the cycle. With a maximum dredging depth of 36 m, River Pearl 48 has the potential to dredge approximately 8–10 million cubic metres per annum, subject to project conditions and deployment. The vessel is expected to support KMEW’s recently awarded three-year maintenance dredging contract at New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA), involving principal post-monsoon dredging of 15.9 million cubic metres over three years. River Pearl 48 is scheduled for immediate deployment at New Mangalore Port, in time to support commencement of the maintenance dredging contract on 15 November 2026. The vessel’s Indian ownership, flag, classification and crew align with the Government of India’s objective of promoting Indian-owned and Indian-flagged vessels. The vessel falls within the ambit of the Right of First Refusal (RoFR) framework, supporting the preference for Indian vessels in eligible procurement processes. Unit No. 706-707, The Epicentre, W. (BSE: 543273) (NSE: KMEW) Commenting on Successful acquisition of Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger River Pearl 48, Mr. Sujay Kewalramani, CEO of Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd said that, Completing the acquisition of River Pearl 48 is a major milestone in KMEW’s growth journey. With a capital investment of approximately ₹250 crore and the potential to dredge 8–10 million cubic metres annually, the vessel strengthens our capacity to execute large-scale maintenance dredging assignments. Its immediate deployment at New Mangalore Port will support our delivery commitments, while its capabilities create a platform for KMEW to explore opportunities in the defence dredging market. The vessel’s Indian flag, classification with the Indian Register of Shipping and 100% Indian crew reflect our commitment to strengthening India’s maritime capabilities. As KMEW grows, we will continue to train and employ Indian nationals, supporting the development of skilled talent in the maritime sector.” The acquisition reinforces KMEW’s focus on strengthening its marine asset base, developing Indian maritime talent and building the capabilities required to undertake larger and more technically demanding dredging projects.
