Q2 & H1 FY27
Highlights
Management Commentary
Q2FY27 was among the most challenging quarters in our history. The West Asia conflict escalated further, pushing
average prices across our key polymers up by 40–45%, while container shortages held back our export shipments in
September. Even so, revenue grew 18% year-on-year and 8% sequentially to Rs. 174 crore, with volumes processed up
over 9% sequentially. Profitability, however, came under pressure. The low-cost inventory that cushioned Q1 was fully
consumed and this fresh wave of input inflation arrived after orders had already been priced. Export prices are fixed per
order and can be revised only on new orders. We have consciously absorbed part of this increase to protect long-standing
customer relationships rather than cede business to Asian competitors. Our fixed costs have also risen compared with
H1FY26 due to labour and staff costs at our new Khatalwada and bamboo facilities. These costs will be spread over higher
volumes as utilisation rises.
The rise in working capital is temporary. Outbound shipping delays roughly doubled our finished-goods stock in
September, and we deliberately held higher raw material buffers. Shipments resumed in October and the backlog is
clearing quickly. Receivables rose largely because two key customers changed their banking arrangements, and those
collections are now coming in. Our partnerships continue to deepen: we are more than doubling our business with one of
our US customers, where several products from our stationery category are now part of their core assortment.
Domestic revenue for the quarter grew about 36% sequentially and 27% year-on-year, raising its share to 19.5%. We
added 36 new domestic customers in H1, launched a new Hydration range of bottles and piloted a D2C online channel in
October.
We continue to invest for the future. We initiated SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) based real-time
machine monitoring at Khatalwada. We also added blow-moulding capability for bottles, jars and containers of various
capacities. Our 14 new machines, adding about 1,500 tons, are expected to be installed in December 2026 and our
Mr. Kailesh Punamchand Shah
Guwahati bamboo facility will begin commercial production in mid-November 2026, with sales commencing in Q4FY27.
We expect revenue of Rs. 25–30 crore from this facility in calendar year 2027. Early customer response to our bamboo
Chairman and Managing Director
range has been encouraging, which gives us confidence in this sustainable new category.
In the near term, our priorities are resetting prices across customers, accelerating domestic growth and bringing new
capacity and categories to full contribution. Further capex will be calibrated to demand. We remain confident in the
fundamental strength of our business.
