Performance Highlights – Q2 & H1 FY27
✓ The Indian agrochemical industry faced a challenging operating environment during H1FY27, with delayed monsoon onset, prolonged dry spells and a 13% rainfall
deficit impacting crop sowing and agrochemical consumption. Weak seasonal demand affected offtake across key product categories, particularly insecticides,
herbicides and fungicides.
✓ SCIL reported revenue of Rs. 907 crore in Q2FY27, down 2% YoY, and Rs. 1,971 crore in H1FY27, down 1%. H1 sales were impacted by lower volumes, partly offset by
improved pricing following price increases undertaken during March to June 2026. Q2FY27 witnessed largely stable selling prices; however, sales volumes declined by
a high-single-digit percentage, while margins were impacted by the absorption of higher-cost inventory procured during April – June 2026.
✓ Domestic business remained relatively resilient, while exports faced near-term pressure. Q2 domestic revenue grew 2% YoY to Rs. 774 crore, whereas exports
declined 23% to Rs. 127 crore. Growth in Metal Phosphides and AND & EHD partially offset weakness across other product categories during H1FY27.
✓ Profitability reflected the timing of inventory cost absorption. Q1FY27 margins had benefited from the consumption of lower-cost opening inventory, while higher-
cost inventory procured during Q1 flowed through the cost of sales in Q2FY27, temporarily impacting margins. Consequently, Q2 gross margin declined 240 bps YoY
to 40.7% and EBITDA margin contracted 297 bps to 20.5%. However, on a cumulative H1FY27 basis, the margin profile remained broadly comparable to historical
levels.
✓ The inventory-cost mismatch substantially normalised by the end of Q2, as procurement costs and selling prices aligned with prevailing market levels.
✓ The Company strengthened its product portfolio with the launch of Topgrain (biostimulant), the first global launch of a promising product developed by its affiliate,
Sumitomo Bio-rational Company, USA, and Helibex during Q2FY27. Focused initiatives across key products supported growth in select high-priority molecules. Capital
expenditure is progressing as p
