Capacity Expansion
In September, 2026, Union Cement Company, a step-down subsidiary of the Company in United Arab Emirates,
commissioned a new cement mill with a capacity of 3.0 million tonnes per annum, taking its total cement
production capacity to 7.0 million tonnes per annum.
In India, the Company is working on setting up greenfield integrated plant in Meghalaya, which is expected to be
commissioned by the quarter ending 31st March 2028. The Company continues to actively evaluate and pursue
strategic expansion opportunities across its markets to achieve its growth milestones.
Sustainability initiatives
Key highlights of the sustainability performance of the Company are as under: -
The Company’s share of green electricity in total electricity consumption stood at 65.2% in Q2’FY27 including
of its wholly owned subsidiaries in India which is one of the highest in the Indian cement industry.
The Company is consistently ramping up its green power generation capacity which currently stands at 667
MW (including of its wholly owned subsidiary in India). The Company is working on new green energy projects
to further increase its proportion of green power consumption.
Thermal Substation Rate (TSR) improved to 5.2% vis-à-vis 2.3% in Q2’FY25-26
All the Company’s manufacturing locations are Zero Liquid Discharge, treating, recycling, and reusing 100% of
wastewater generated from its operations. These efforts have enabled the Company to improve its water
positivity index to >8 times in FY2025-26. The Company endeavours to maintain and further improve these
levels in current financial year.
Ready-Mix Concrete business
The Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) business continued its strong growth trajectory during Q2’FY27, with the
commercial network expanding to 28 plants and the overall network reaching 35 plants including captive units.
Driven by strong performance from mature plants and steady ramp-up of newly commissioned facilities, RMC
volumes increased by 153% YoY to 2.73 lakh m³, while revenue grew by 182% YoY to ₹129 Crore. The business
remained operationally EBITDA positive, demonstrating improving scale, operating leverage and the long-term
potential of the RMC platform.
Cement market outlook
India’s economic outlook remains supportive, driven by sustained infrastructure spending, urban development
and stable macroeconomic conditions. While a weak monsoon could weigh on rural demand, continued
investments in roads, railways, housing and data centres are expected to support cement demand.
