Marico Marks International Day of Climate Action with 89.3%
Reduction in Operational Emissions Intensity Since FY13
The Company also recorded a 29.95% reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions intensity against its
FY19 baseline
Mumbai, October 22, 2026: Marico Limited, one of India’s leading FMCG companies, today
highlighted significant progress in its climate action journey on the occasion of the International Day
of Climate Action. Reinforcing its commitment to building a low-carbon future, the Company has
achieved an 89.3% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions intensity compared to its FY13
baseline and a 29.95% reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions intensity against its FY19 baseline.
Marico’s climate strategy is guided by its ESG 2030 Roadmap and its ambition to achieve Net Zero
emissions across Indian operations (owned manufacturing units) in India by 2030 and across its
global operations by 2040. The Company continues to embed climate considerations across
business operations, supply chain management, innovation, circular packaging, resource allocation
and long-term growth planning.
The progress achieved to date has been driven by a combination of increased renewable energy
adoption, energy-efficiency measures, process optimisation and the transition to lower-carbon
energy sources across operations. In FY2025-26, renewable energy accounted for 77.3% of Marico’s
operational energy consumption, while its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity stood at 0.84
tCO₂e per crore of revenue.
As part of its decarbonisation roadmap, Marico is targeting a 93% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2
emissions by 2030, compared to its FY13 baseline. Residual emissions will be addressed through
carbon sequestration initiatives and verified carbon offsets.
Commenting on the occasion, Amit Bhasin, Chief Legal Officer, Group General Counsel and
Secretary, CSR Committee of Marico Limited, said, “Climate action is an integral part of our
business strategy and long-term growth agenda. Building a future-ready organisation requires
sustainability to be embedded across operations, supply chains and decision-making processes.
The progress we have made in reducing emissions across our operations and value chain reflects
the collective efforts of our teams, partners and stakeholders. As we advance towards our climate
ambitions, we will continue to scale renewable energy adoption, improve energy efficiency,
strengthen responsible sourcing practices, drive packaging circularity and collaborate across our
value chain to deliver on our long-term Net Zero commitments.”
Marico’s Climate Transition Plan brings together the company’s climate initiatives within a unified
enterprise-wide framework, linking climate ambitions with implementation roadmaps, governance
mechanisms, resource allocation and measurable outcomes. Through this integrated approach, the
