Press release
Clarification on treated effluent discharge from Atul site
Atul, October 16, 2026: It has come to the notice of the Company that certain incorrect
information and videos concerning the discharge of effluent from Atul site into the Par river
are being circulated.
The Company uses an approximately 4-km long pipeline, laid entirely within the estuary, to
discharge treated effluent into the estuarine zone. Considering the age of the existing pipeline
and the need to mitigate potential environmental risks, the Company had proactively initiated
the installation of a new pipeline. The necessary approvals have been obtained from the
relevant authorities and the work is at an advanced stage.
During the period, accidental damage was identified in the existing pipeline at a location
approximately 1 km from the effluent treatment plant of the Company, within the estuary. This
resulted in the inadvertent release of treated effluent into the estuarine zone for a short period,
until the damage was detected. The treated effluent released during this period complied with
the prescribed standards of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board.
Immediately upon detecting the damage, the Company isolated the affected section of the
pipeline and voluntarily suspended effluent discharge through it as a precautionary measure.
The necessary repair work has been initiated, and a competent agency has been engaged to
undertake the required repairs at the earliest. Discharge through the affected pipeline will
remain suspended until the repairs are completed and the pipeline is inspected and confirmed
fit for safe operation.
The Company does not expect any material impact due this incident.
The Company reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection and to complying with all
applicable environmental laws, rules and regulatory requirements.
