PTC Industries Limited has received a design and development order from the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), for a Titanium Cradle for the 105mm Indian Light Weight Tank.  First order of its kind for PTC. This is an important milestone as it marks PTC’s first order where the Company will be responsible not only for manufacturing, but also for designing and developing the component to be fit for purpose, moving beyond conventional build-to- print manufacturing.  Mission-critical lightweight defence component. The Titanium Cradle supports the main gun barrel and breech, provides attachment points for the recoil mechanism and recuperator, and transfers firing and recoil forces safely to the turret structure.  Strengthening PTC ONE™. The order adds an important new capability layer to PTC ONE™ — From Melt to Mission™, extending the Group’s integrated manufacturing system from materials, precision components and systems integration into design-led development of mission-critical defence components.  Long-term light-weighting opportunity. The development has potential relevance beyond one component, as the light-weighting of tanks, artillery systems and other land defence platforms is expected to become increasingly important for mobility, deployability and performance in demanding terrains. Why This Matters  This is not a routine development or manufacturing order. It is a design-and-develop order, requiring PTC to take responsibility for creating a component that meets functional, structural and mission requirements.  It moves PTC up the value chain from build-to-print execution towards design-led manufacturing, where engineering judgement, material knowledge, structural performance and manufacturing capability come together.  Titanium is strategically important for defence light-weighting, offering a high strength-to- weight ratio, fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance for mission-critical applications where weight reduction directly impacts platform performance. PTC INDUSTRIES LIMITED Advanced Manufacturing & Technology Centre NH 25A, Sarai Shahjadi, Lucknow 227101  The order opens a new area of opportunity for PTC in the design and manufacture of lightweight Titanium components for Indian tanks, artillery systems and other mobility-driven defence platforms.  It strengthens India’s indigenous defence capability by creating domestic competence in advanced Titanium components designed for high-performance land systems. Lucknow, India — 23 July 2026 PTC Industries Limited, an advanced manufacturing company serving critical and super-critical aerospace, defence and strategic applications, today announced that it has received a design and development order from the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), DRDO, for a Titanium Cradle for the 105mm Indian Light Weight Tank. ARDE is engaged in the development of advanced armament systems for Indian defence applications. The present order relates to the design and development of a critical Titanium component for a lightweight armament system being developed for the Indian Light Weight Tank programme. This order represents a significant milestone in PTC’s evolution. Unlike traditional build-to-print assignments, where the customer provides a defined design and the manufacturer is responsible for execution, this order requires PTC to participate in the design and development of the component for its intended functional performance. With this order, PTC begins to add design-led development capability to its existing strengths in Titanium materials, precision manufacturing and mission-critical component execution. A Mission-Critical Titanium Defence Component The Titanium Cradle is a critical structural component in the armament system. It supports the main gun barrel and breech, provides attachment points for the recoil mechanism and recuperator, and transfers firing and recoil forces safely to the turret structure. For light tank applications, weight reduction is a critical design requirement. Lighter systems improve mobility, deployability and performance, particularly in high-altitude and mountain warfare conditions where agility, transportability and rapid deployment are essential. Titanium alloys are well suited for such applications because they combine high strength, low weight, fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance. However, translating these material advantages into a fit-for-purpose defence component requires more than manufacturing capability. It requires design understanding, material behaviour knowledge, structural performance evaluation, precision manufacturing and rigorous validation. The development of the Titanium Cradle will therefore require PTC to bring together its Titanium expertise, advanced manufacturing capability and engineering development discipline. PTC INDUSTRIES LIMITED Advanced Manufacturing & Technology Centre NH 25A, Sarai Shahjadi, Lucknow 227101 PTC ONE™ — From Melt to Mission™ This order strengthens PTC ONE™ — From Melt to Mission™, the Group’s integrated manufacturing doctrine for transforming advanced materials into mission-critical components, assemblies and systems. Until now, PTC ONE™ has been expressed through the Group’s growing capabilities in critical materials, Titanium and Superalloy manufacturing, precision investment castings, special processes, machining and systems-level integration. This ARDE order adds another important dimension: design-led development for fit-for-purpose defence applications. The order demonstrates that PTC’s role is expanding beyond material and component manufacture. It now begins to include the ability to support design, development and optimisation of mission- critical components where material selection, weight reduction, structural integrity and manufacturing feasibility must be considered together. This is a natural extension of PTC ONE™. From Melt to Mission™ does not only mean manufacturing a part. It means understanding how materials, design, manufacturing, quality and final mission performance co [Showing first 8,000 characters — download PDF for full document]
