PRESS RELEASE
CSM Tech Limited Wins TradeMark Africa Mandate for Beira Corridor
US$174,000 project to build a digital platform for real-time trade and transport
monitoring in Mozambique
Bhubaneswar / Nairobi
October 9, 2026
CSM Tech Limited, Wholly Owned subsidiary of CSM Technologies Limited (NSE: CSM
| BSE: 544806), a multinational GovTech company delivering Digital Public
Infrastructure (DPI) solutions across emerging economies, has secured a US$174,000
(approximately ₹1.65 crore) mandate from TradeMark Africa (TMA) for the design,
development and deployment of the Mozambique Transport and Trade Observatory
(TTO) for the Beira Corridor.
The project will be executed by CSM Tech Limited, and will create a centralised digital
platform to provide corridor authorities and stakeholders with near real-time visibility
into cargo movement, transport performance, delays, bottlenecks and other trade
indicators.
The Beira Corridor is a strategic trade route connecting the Port of Beira in Mozambique
with Zimbabwe and extending trade links to Malawi, Zambia and the Democratic
Republic of Congo (DRC). It is particularly important for land-linked economies that
depend on efficient access to regional and international markets.
The need for better data and visibility is underscored by a TradeMark Africa-supported
diagnostic study conducted in March 2026 involving more than 1,000 truck drivers. The
study found that while travel times along parts of the corridor could average six to seven
hours, performance varied significantly, with delays concentrated around the Port of
Beira and Machipanda border. Baseline transport costs were estimated at US$1,600–
1,960 per trip but could rise to US$4,000 or more than US$6,000 under high-delay
scenarios, highlighting the economic impact of bottlenecks and non-tariff barriers.
The new Observatory is designed to address this data and coordination challenge by
creating a single, evidence-based view of corridor performance.
CSM Tech Limited will design and deploy a secure, web-based and microservices-
oriented platform featuring interactive KPI dashboards, GIS-based corridor mapping,
automated alerts, reporting and data analytics. The system will integrate priority
information from port, road, rail, customs and other relevant trade and transport
systems across Mozambique and neighbouring countries.
A centralised data warehouse, supported by a four-stage data validation workflow, will
help improve the reliability and consistency of information available to corridor
stakeholders. The solution will also be hosted within Mozambican data centres,
supporting data sovereignty and applicable local data protection requirements.
The engagement covers requirements validation and detailed solution design, agile
development and systems integration, testing, stakeholder training, a pilot
implementation along the Beira–Machipanda route, production deployment and
handover. CSM will subsequently provide 12 months of support and maintenance under
a Service Level Agreement. The overall assignment is expected to run for approximately
18 months from signing.
Commenting on the engagement, Priyadarshi Pany, Managing Director & CEO,
CSM Technologies Limited, said:
“The Beira Corridor is a vital economic artery for Southern Africa, and its efficiency
depends increasingly on the quality and timeliness of information available to decision-
makers. We are privileged to partner with TradeMark Africa on the Transport and Trade
Observatory and to bring our GovTech experience to a platform that can provide
corridor institutions with a shared, data-driven view of how trade moves. Our objective
is to make complex trade and transport data actionable, helping stakeholders identify
bottlenecks earlier, strengthen coordination and make evidence-based decisions.”
“Trade corridors generate enormous amounts of operational data, but its value is limited
when information remains fragmented across institutions and systems. The Beira
Corridor Observatory will bring these data streams together to create a common
operating picture for stakeholders. By combining data integration, GIS, analytics and
automated alerts, the platform can help transform corridor monitoring from a largely
reactive exercise into a more proactive and evidence-led process.”
The assignment comes at a time when African governments and regional institutions
are placing greater emphasis on digital trade facilitation and data-driven corridor
management. TradeMark Africa’s Mozambique programme identifies the Beira
Corridor as a critical transit route and is supporting interventions aimed at reducing the
time, cost and complexity of trade.
The World Bank has similarly identified the Beira and Nacala corridors as important
avenues for increasing regional trade and reducing trade costs in Southern Africa. Its
Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project was designed to improve regional trade
coordination, reduce trade costs and time, strengthen regional value chains and
improve access to infrastructure in Mozambique and Malawi.
The Observatory assignment also builds on CSM Technologies’ growing engagement
with TradeMark Africa and African governments. Earlier this year, CSM Technologies
delivered and launched Kenya’s Electronic Warehouse Receipt System (eWRS) and
Central Registry Platform in partnership with the Warehouse Receipt System Council
and TradeMark Africa.
The Beira Corridor engagement further builds on CSM Technologies’ experience in
developing large-scale digital platforms for trade facilitation, logistics, natural-resource
governance and regulatory administration across India and Africa.
In India, CSM Technologies has implemented major digital mining and mineral-
administration platforms for state governments, including RajMines in Rajasthan, i3MS
in Odisha and Khanij Online in Chhattisgarh, among others. RajMines has facilitated
more than 20.5 million digital transit permits, according to CSM Technologies.
The company recently expanded its African GovTech portfolio with the deployment of
Kenya’s nationwide Royalty Management System through CSM Tech Limited. The
platform provides digital capabilities for royalty declaration, assessment, payment and
monitoring for Kenya’s mining sector.
The Beira Corridor project represents another step in the internationalisation of Indian-
built GovTech capabilities, demonstrating how digital platforms developed from India’s
experience in large-scale public-sector transformation can be adapted to address
complex governance, trade and infrastructure challenges in emerging economies.
