Throughout his career, Shri Karmakar has been associated with Ship Building Engineering & Systems and the Machine Fitting Out Shop, demonstrating extensive expertise in shipbuilding and fitting-out operations. He has also held Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. Sl. Effective date Name and Present Designation Brief Profile No. of Promotion key leadership responsibilities as Unit- in-Charge and Occupier of the Fitting Out Jetty (FOJ) from 01 April 2021 to 10 August 2025, and has been serving as Unit-in-Charge and Occupier of RBD since 11 August 2025. His long-standing technical expertise, operational leadership, and rich experience have significantly contributed to GRSE’s shipbuilding and engineering functions. In recognition of his diverse experience, leadership capabilities, and significant contributions, Shri Goutam Karmakar has been promoted to the position of Chief General Manager with effect from 01 Jul 2026. 2 Cdr Satish Chandra Jha, IN 01 Jul 2026 Cdr. Satish Chandra Jha, IN (Retd.) has (Retd.) joined GRSE on 13 Aug 2016 as Deputy GM (FOJ) General Manager in the Company. He has done Bachelor of Technology (Electrical) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Has also done Master of Engineering (Electronics & Telecommunication) from University of Pune and Master of Business Administration from Symbiosis University. Before joining GRSE, he has served in the Indian Navy as a Technical Officer for more than 18 years under different capacities. His last designation in Indian Navy was Jt. Director Weapon Equipment. In GRSE, he has over 09 years of experience. He has played a pivotal role for re-structuring of Engineering Services Department of the Company. Presently, he working as General Manager (FOJ). Pinakesh Das, IN (Retd.) joined AGM (I/C) SR/ TU GRSE on 1 Mar 2016 as Deputy General Manager (Technical) (E-5) after serving with distinction in the Indian Navy from 15 January 1999 until his superannuation and subsequent joining at GRSE. He holds a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (1993), M.Tech. in Rubber Technology (1999), Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (2014), and an Advanced Diploma in German (1989). During his tenure at GRSE, he was initially involved in RBD, MFOS/FOJ, Bailey Bridge, KPDD, and Ship Repair, reflecting extensive technical, managerial, and operational experience in the defence shipbuilding and engineering sectors. In recognition of his vast experience across multiple stages of shipbuilding and his inherent leadership abilities, Cdr Pinakesh Das, IN (Retd) has been promoted as General Manager with effect from 01 Jul 2026. 4 Ms. Swagata Sen Roy 01 Jul 2026 Smt. Swagata Sen Roy joined Garden AGM (B&TD, CC, NPD) Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) on 2 January 2012 as Senior Manager (Corporate Planning & Marketing) (E-4), bringing with her Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. Sl. (GRSE) on 16 April 1998 as a Senior Engineer (Quality Assurance) after successfully completing his tenure as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at GRSE from 15 April 1997 to 14 April 1998. He holds a B.E. in Metallurgy (1995) and an M.Tech. in Metallurgy (1997). His core areas of expertise include Quality Assurance, Shipbuilding Services (SBS), and Hull & Hull Outfit, reflecting extensive experience in quality management and shipbuilding operations. He has been promoted as General Manager from 01 Jul 2026. 6 Cdr Ambuj Kumar, IN (Retd) 01 Jul 2026 Cdr. Ambuj Kumar, IN (Retd.) joined AGM (I/C) PMT – P17A Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) on 01 Sep 2018 as Deputy General Manager (Technical) (E-5) Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. Sl. Effective date Name and Present Designation Brief Profile No. of Promotion after serving with distinction in the Indian Navy from 16 October 2000 until his joining at GRSE. He holds a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (1996) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (2007). With over 07 years of experience, he has expertise in project management, technical leadership, and warship construction, with extensive experience in the CMD’s Office and Project Management Team (PMT P-17A/FOJ), reflecting a strong background in naval and shipbuilding operations. He has been promoted as General Manager from 01 Jul 2026. 7 Cdr Ravi Kumar Sharma, IN 01 Jul 2026 Cdr. Ravi Kumar Sharma, IN (Retd.) (Retd) joined Garden Reach Shipbuilders & AGM (I/C) DESIGN Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) on 2 January 2019 as Deputy General Manager (Technical) (E-5) after an illustrious career in the Indian Navy, where he served from 29 October 1999 until his joining at GRSE. He holds a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (1999), M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (2007), M.Sc. in Defence and Strategic Studies (2013), and has completed the Marine Engineering Specialization Course (2001) and the Repair Engineer Advanced Training Course (2008). His core area of expertise is ship design, with extensive experience in naval engineering, marine systems, and defence shipbuilding.
