The Company has carefully examined the Notice of Demand and based on legal advice received, believes that the demand made therein are not tenable in law. Further, the Company is evaluating options to avail itself of legal remedies and file an appropriate appeal against the said demand order. Commissioner of Income Tax, Central communication received Circle-II, Lucknow Brief summary A search and seizure operation under Section 132 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 was conducted on the Company and its group entities on 12th December 2024. Pursuant thereto, block assessment proceedings were initiated for the block period from 1st April 2018 to 10th February 2025 under Sections 158BC read with 143(3) of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The Company has received the Block Assessment Order along with a Notice of Demand under Section 156 of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The Assessing Officer has made additions aggregating to ₹10,12,15,449, comprising towards alleged unexplained investment in stock under Section 69 and the profit attributed to alleged unaccounted sales, resulting in a tax demand of ₹7,09,58,949.
