MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR
Dear Shareholders,
The financial year 2025–26 was a challenging period for East West Freight Carriers Limited. The
Company reported consolidated revenue from operations of approximately ₹201.63 crore, compared
with ₹285.32 crore in the preceding financial year, and closed the year with a consolidated net loss of
approximately ₹3.98 crore.
The performance was impacted by a combination of geopolitical uncertainty, disruption across
international trade and logistics corridors, and consequential pressure on payment and collection
cycles. The resulting working-capital requirements necessitated increased reliance on borrowings, with
the associated finance costs further impacting profitability. While the financial outcome was below our
expectations, the year also compelled us to critically examine our operating structure, cost base and
capital utilisation.
A POSITIVE START TO FY 2026–27
I am encouraged by the improvement visible in the first quarter of the current financial year.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, the Company recorded consolidated revenue from operations of
approximately ₹45.56 crore. More importantly, despite a lower revenue base compared with the
corresponding quarter of the previous year, operating profitability improved significantly and the
Company returned to a positive consolidated bottom line.
This improvement is an encouraging indication that the measures being undertaken towards
operational discipline, margin improvement, working-capital management and cost optimisation are
beginning to deliver results. Our immediate objective is to build upon this recovery and progressively
strengthen the quality and sustainability of earnings.
BUILDING A TECHNOLOGY-LED EAST WEST
Our next phase will increasingly be driven by digitisation, technology and intelligent automation. We
intend to deploy technology across operational processes, pricing, documentation, customer servicing,
financial controls, productivity monitoring and management information systems.
Artificial Intelligence will be evaluated and deployed selectively where it can improve decision-
making, reduce repetitive processes, enhance productivity or create measurable cost efficiencies. Our
objective is not simply to digitise existing processes, but to progressively build a leaner, faster, data-
driven and more scalable organisation.
EXPANDING BEYOND CONVENTIONAL LOGISTICS
While logistics will remain at the core of East West, we also intend to leverage the Company’s existing
capabilities, international relationships and Import Export Code (IEC) to selectively explore merchant
and international trading opportunities.
Our approach will be disciplined and opportunity-driven, with particular emphasis on specialised
sectors and products where entry barriers, technical requirements, international sourcing capabilities
or supply-chain complexity can provide stronger margins and sustainable competitive advantage.
We believe this can progressively create an additional revenue and profitability vertical for the
Company while simultaneously leveraging East West’s existing logistics infrastructure and
international network.
LOOKING AHEAD
East West has navigated multiple business cycles during its long operating history. FY 2025–
26 tested our resilience, but it has also reinforced the need to evolve.
Our priorities are clear: restore sustainable profitability, strengthen cash flows, reduce
financing costs, improve operating efficiency, accelerate technology adoption and selectively
develop new high-value business verticals.
The improvement witnessed in the first quarter gives us confidence that we are moving in the
right direction. There remains considerable work ahead, and we will approach it with
discipline, prudence and a clear focus on creating long-term value.
I thank our shareholders, customers, business partners, bankers and, most importantly, our
employees for their continued support, trust, and dedication and support.
Warm regards,
Mohammed Ajaz Shafi
