Shree Refrigerations' Mission-Critical AC Systems installed on two of three ships
commissioned by PM Modi
• Commissioning ceremony held at GRSE in Kolkata, marked the induction of INS
Dunagiri, INS Agray and INS Sandhayak into the Indian Navy.

platforms - INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghsheer - commissioned by PM Modi in January,
2025, making it a unique honour for the firm
Mumbai, 22nd June, 2026: Shree Refrigerations Limited (SRL), one of India's leading defence-
focused manufacturers of refrigeration and HVAC systems, has supplied mission-critical
Marine Air-Conditioning Plants for INS Dunagiri and INS Agray, two of the three warships
commissioned into the Indian Navy by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kolkata on Sunday.
The commissioning ceremony, held at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), also
marked the induction of INS Sandhayak, apart from INS Dunagiri and INS Agray into the Indian
Navy.
The systems supplied to the two ships have been successfully type-tested and commissioned
for onboard operational use by the Indian Navy, reinforcing SRL's capabilities in delivering
critical HVAC solutions for defence applications.
Mr. R. G. Shende, Chairman and Managing Director of Shree Refrigerations Limited said,
"This is only the second occasion in the history of the Indian Navy that three ships have been
commissioned together, following the historic commissioning of INS Nilgiri, INS Surat and INS
Vaghsheer in January 2025. The significance of this milestone can be gauged from the fact
that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself commissioned the ships on both occasions. Shree
Refrigeration AC Plants were similarly installed on two of the three naval platforms - INS Nilgiri
and INS Vaghsheer – in 2025 too. It is an honour and a matter of immense pride for us that
we have supplied AC Plants to two of the three platforms commissioned on both occasions."
According to Mr. Shende, this achievement reinforces SRL’s belief that Indian manufacturers
can deliver complex, mission-critical solutions that meet the exacting requirements of the
defence sector. It also reflects the growing capabilities of Indian industry and supports the
nation's vision of self-reliance under Atmanirbhar Bharat.
"Our new 50,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility, inaugurated just a day earlier, more than
doubles our production capacity. It reinforces our commitment to supporting the Indian Navy
and the country's defence ecosystem through innovation, technological excellence, and a
steadfast focus on indigenous manufacturing," Shende further said.
