Brief profile Shri Bhaskar Chowdary Nettem is a seasoned energy sector leader with more than three decades of distinguished service in ONGC, spanning offshore and onshore oil and gas operations, strategic business development, project execution, international upstream exposure, and joint venture leadership. A Mechanical Engineer by qualification, he began his career in 1991 at ONGC’s flagship Mumbai High Offshore Oilfield, where he built a strong foundation in complex offshore operations and production management. To complement his technical grounding with commercial and strategic perspective, Shri Nettem earned a master’s degree in international business in 2006. His early leadership assignments included feasibility studies for greenfield refinery projects at Kakinada and Barmer, contributing to the strategic groundwork for ONGC’s downstream entry. He later played a key role in the joint venture associated with commencement of production from the prolific Mangala oilfields in Rajasthan and the commissioning of the world’s longest heated crude oil pipeline from Barmer to Bhogat. During his tenure with ONGC Videsh Limited, he gained valuable international exposure across deepwater oilfield operations, business development, and field development planning. This global experience strengthened his ability to evaluate opportunities, manage multidisciplinary interfaces, and lead complex upstream initiatives across diverse operating, commercial, and regulatory environments. As Asset Manager of ONGC’s Assam Asset at Nazira, Shri Nettem led one of the Company’s most operationally challenging onshore assets. He provided focused leadership for sustaining and enhancing production from mature fields, while managing a large and diverse workforce in an ecologically sensitive region. His approach combined operational discipline, stakeholder engagement, environmental responsibility, and workforce alignment. Subsequently, Shri Nettem brought his cross-functional expertise and strategic leadership to Mumbai High Asset, ONGC’s most critical and mature offshore producing asset. In an environment marked by ageing reservoirs, legacy infrastructure, redevelopment requirements, and demanding production expectations, he guided initiatives aimed at strengthening production performance, asset integrity, project execution, field redevelopment, and HSE excellence. In addition to his leadership roles within ONGC, Shri Nettem serves as Chairman of IGGL, a joint venture of five public sector undertakings entrusted with developing the gas pipeline network in the North East. This initiative is aligned with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Act East Policy and the One Nation One Gas Grid Mission and is expected to support deeper city gas distribution penetration while enhancing the share of natural gas in India’s energy basket.
