SGBS Unnati Foundation and Mphasis join hands for a greener Bengaluru
Bengaluru, September 11, 2026
Mphasis, (BSE: 526299; NSE: MPHASIS), a global AI-led, platform-driven technology solutions provider, is supporting an
environmental sustainability initiative led by SGBS Unnati Foundation in collaboration with Bangalore Metro Rail
Corporation Limited (BMRCL). This initiative recognizes the importance of collective action in advancing urban
sustainability. As Bengaluru continues to evolve as a rapidly growing urban centre, creating greener and more sustainable
public spaces requires greater collaboration across sectors.
This commitment takes shape through the current collaboration, under which SGBS Unnati Foundation has signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BMRCL for the maintenance of Pier Nos. BP-382 to BP-437. The initiative will
support the upkeep of the designated metro corridor while contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable public
environment. The initiative builds on Mphasis’ broader CSR commitment of working with social organisations,
government institutions and community stakeholders to address environmental and community priorities.
SGBS Unnati Foundation made history by becoming the first NGO in India to be listed on the Social Stock Exchanges of
both NSE and BSE in December 2023, marking a milestone in governance, transparency, and measurable social impact.
“Building sustainable communities requires more than individual efforts. It calls for organisations to come together and
take shared responsibility for the places in which we live and work. At Mphasis, our CSR efforts are guided by this belief,
with partnerships enabling us to support issues that are relevant to the communities around us. Our association with
SGBS Unnati Foundation and BMRCL is a continuation of this efforts, enabling us to support an initiative that will
strengthen the upkeep of Bengaluru’s shared spaces while fostering a greater sense of collective responsibility towards
the city’s future,” said Deepa Nagraj, Senior Vice President & Global Head - ESG, Sparkle Innovation Ecosystem, and
Communications, Mphasis.
“Meaningful and sustainable community development is possible when organisations come together with a shared sense
of responsibility. Our collaboration with Mphasis and BMRCL is a testament to this spirit, enabling us to contribute
towards cleaner, better-maintained public spaces and a stronger sense of community ownership in Bengaluru,” said Dr.
Ramesh Swamy, Director, SGBS Unnati Foundation.
Bringing together BMRCL, SGBS Unnati Foundation and Mphasis, the initiative represents a cross-sector approach to
addressing an urban priority. It combines institutional support, CSR participation and community-oriented
implementation to create a model for sustained stewardship of shared urban spaces.
The initiative is part of a continued effort to support programmes that respond to local priorities through meaningful
partnerships and sustained engagement. By bringing together organisations with complementary strengths, the
collaboration aims to contribute to Bengaluru’s environmental sustainability while creating value for the communities that
call the city home.
Over the years, Mphasis has championed a range of environmental and community development initiatives, focusing on
water conservation, lake rejuvenation, afforestation, and community welfare through strategic partnerships that drive
long-term impact. As part of its commitment to ecological restoration, Mphasis supports the planting and maintenance of

100,000 trees at the Doddasagare Botanical Garden in Karnataka. The company is also
contributing to the revival of Bodanahosahalli Lake, a project designed to enhance
groundwater recharge, strengthen local biodiversity, and support Karnataka's broader water
security goals. Further extending its water conservation efforts, Mphasis is helping establish 1,200 percolation wells
across Bengaluru, with the aim of conserving an estimated 153 million litres of rainwater by 2026.
