This mobile awareness campaign is a cornerstone of BCML’s broader mission to promote circular economy principles and mainstream the adoption of bio-based innovations such as PLA (polylactic acid) bioplastics. Through live demonstrations, hands-on product displays and interactive exhibits, visitors experienced how compostable bioplastics made from sugarcane can serve as practical, sustainable alternatives to conventional plastics in everyday life. Held at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Art Gallery grounds near Racecourse, Rajkot, the interactive awareness initiative introduced visitors to the science and applications of compostable bioplastics made from biobased source,sugarcane. Recently a study done by a premier government institution confirmed that PLA microplastics break down safely in Indian soil unlike conventional plastics. A significant decline in PLA microplastics was observed within 180 days, reducing from 287 to just 18 particles/kg under Indian soil conditions. The exhibition witnessed more than 500 visitors, including students, educators and sustainability enthusiasts, who explored Bioyug's range of compostable products and gained insights into the environmental benefits of bio-based materials. The event was also graced by Mr. Pragnesh Solanki, Management & Environment Engineer, Rajkot Municipal Corporation (West Zone), Mr. Dipal Kathad, Management Manager, Rajkot Municipal Corporation (West Zone) and Mr. Dipak Pandit, Retd. Water Disaster Officer. Their presence reflects the growing support from local governance and the community for sustainable, plastic-free alternatives.
